De Nederlandse Chinchilla-Vereniging voor Liefhebbers is een vereniging voor mensen die een chinchilla als huisdier hebben of er op kleine schaal mee fokken. Het aantal chinchilla's dat als huisdier gehouden wordt is de laatste jaren enorm toegenomen. Maar nog steeds is er weinig deskundige informatie over de verzorging van de chinchilla. Met name over kwaaltjes en ziekten is weinig gepubliceerd en over de eventuele behandelwijze is nog minder informatie voorhanden. Voor wat betreft de voeding, worden er met heel veel zorg uitgezochte snoepgoederen aan de chinchilla's gegeven, maar deze kunnen ernstige darmstoornissen en zelfs overlijden tot gevolg hebben. De huisvesting wordt vaak gerealiseerd in een peperduur konijnen- of cavia hok, meestal op advies van de dierenzaak aangeschaft, die in zijn onkunde denkt een "fantastische chinchilla bungalow" te leveren.
Gezien deze redenen is de Nederlandse Chinchilla-Vereniging voor Liefhebbers in 1993 opgericht, een landelijke vereniging met meer dan 200 leden. Met welke oprichting wij hopen dat allerlei ervaringen en informatie uitgewisseld gaan worden. Op deze manier proberen wij het houden van chinchilla's als huisdier op een hoger niveau te brengen, zodat er minder dieren nodeloos overlijden door onwetendheid.
Het lidmaatschap voor deze vereniging bedraagt fl.50,- per jaar. U wordt toch ook lid ?
Maar ook zonder lid te worden kunt u voor informatie bij ons terecht.
