ChinMail mailing list

Thanks to Steve, it is now possible to subscribe to a automated chinchilla mailing list. It is designed to bridge the gap between people having access to Internet newsgroups and the ones that can send and receive email only.

How do I use ChinMail ?

Easy. Send a message to chinmail-request@buffnet.net, or . Within seconds, you will receive a computer generated return email message explaining what to do. You do not have to supply a subject or a message body, even an completely empty email message will do. Follow the instructions in the return message.

This allows people with 'email-only' accounts to keep track of the discussion in alt.chinchilla, but you are also free to use it as a convenient way to read the posts if you prefer email over your newsreader program. It also has the advantage that messages are moderated before they are sent out to the mailing list. This means that non-related junk like get-rich-fast postings will not make it.

What does it do ?

Any new article posted to alt.chinchilla will be moderated and if chinchilla-releated, will be emailed to everybody subscribed to the service. Any email message to chinmail@buffnet.net will be posted back to the newsgroup.

ChinMail subscribe and unsubscribe FAQ

I am on ChinMail, but have changed email address since. What do i do ?

Let's say your old address was me@old.com and the new one is me@brandnew.net.

Send an email message to majordomo@buffnet.net. The subject does not matter. On the first line of the body text, type :

unsubscribe chinmail me@old.com

This will mail a request to take that person off the list to us. We will check it to see if it is valid, and will remove it once approved. This is done because all sorts of clowns around the world try to subscribe and unsubscribe other people from mailing lists.

Then, send a second message, with the text :

subscribe chinmail

This will once agian subscribe you to the list, under me@brandnew.net.

I want to leave the ChinMail mailing list, but don't know how

Send a message to majordomo@buffnet.net. In the text part of the message type :

unsubscribe chinmail

That's it ! You will receive a email conformation you have been removed and will not receive future ChinMails.

Send mail and requests for more information to :
